The Standard pups are alnico V's (I have one myself) and sound comparable to the ones on my CV60. That might not be true of all Standards but it is of mine. Lindy Frailin says it well that a 5% underwind gives more highs and a 5% overwind emphasises more mids. In other words, pickups arent, juicy or airy or whatever.
