WebRS3 early game has a lot of different weapons and armor you can use, but once you hit ~T70 there's not really much difference between anything. You're not gonna use a different set of equipment within the same style for different bosses. WebRS3 has seemingly more content imo and more endgame options, but also it has the MTX that you can ignore or use. RS3 also has more updated and faster exp methods for the more annoying skills. You can reach endgame much quicker, esp with the use of Bonus XP. I, like many others, play an account on each and enjoy both games for what they are. WebSo when factoring in that most of the MTX money is from RS3 cosmetic and key purchases, plus their own bonds, it's fair to assume that around 70% of the mtx money earned comes from RS3. Meaning in short RS3 is quite profitable despite being the smaller playerbase.
